Poelman transforms the human form into pure sculptural abstraction, capturing intertwined limbs through dramatic contrasts of light and shadow. The monochromatic palette strips away narrative, focusing attention on the essential qualities of form, texture, and volume. Hard lighting creates sharp divisions between illuminated skin and deep shadows, emphasizing the tactile qualities of flesh while dissolving individual identity into universal geometry. This work continues the modernist tradition of reducing the figure to its fundamental elements.
